Privacy policy

This policy covers risegm.com, operated by Rise LLC ("Rise", "we", "us"). It explains what we collect when you visit the site or apply to work with us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can do about it. Questions go to alvin@risegm.com.

Information you give us

We collect what you type into our forms. That's the application form on /apply/form, which asks for your first and last name, email address, website, what you're here for, your monthly revenue range, and your timeline. The skills page has a shorter form that asks for name, email, and company before it hands over the repository link. If you email us directly, we keep that correspondence.

We don't ask for payment details, government identifiers, or sensitive categories of personal information anywhere on this site, and we'd rather you didn't send them.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, we collect technical data when you browse: IP address, browser and device type, referring page, the pages you view, and how long you spend on them. This comes from cookies and similar technologies set by us and by the analytics and advertising services listed below.

Why we use it

• To respond to your application and decide whether we're a fit for each other
• To send you the materials you asked for
• To understand which pages and channels bring us the right people
• To measure our advertising and reach similar audiences
• To keep the site working, secure, and free of abuse
• To meet legal and record-keeping obligations

We don't sell your personal information for money. We do use advertising and analytics tools that share usage data with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising, which some privacy laws treat as "selling" or "sharing". The opt-outs in the section below apply to that.

Who we share it with

We use the service providers below. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job, and each has its own privacy policy governing what it does with the data.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, if we need to protect our rights or someone's safety, or if the business is ever sold or merged. We don't share your information with anyone else for their own marketing.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Google Analytics and Google Signals collect usage data across our pages. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or through your Google Ad Settings. Meta and LinkedIn advertising tools are controlled through your ad preferences on Facebook and LinkedIn. Industry-wide opt-outs are available at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org. Your browser settings can block or delete cookies too, though parts of the site may behave oddly if you block everything.

Third-party tracking across other sites

The analytics and advertising services named above are able to collect information about your online activity over time and across other websites, which is how ad measurement and audience building work. We don't control that collection beyond choosing which services to run and configuring them.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

Browsers send "Do Not Track" signals in inconsistent ways and there's no agreed standard for honoring them, so this site doesn't respond to DNT headers. Where a service we use honors Global Privacy Control signals, those signals are handled by that service. The opt-out links above are the reliable route.

How long we keep it

Applications and correspondence stay in our CRM for as long as there's a plausible business relationship and for as long as we need them for legal, tax, and record-keeping purposes. Analytics data follows each provider's retention settings. You can ask us to delete your record sooner.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it for marketing. Email alvin@risegm.com. We verify requests before acting on them and respond as applicable law requires. We won't treat you differently for asking.

California residents have these rights under state law, including the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and share, and the right to opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising. If you're in the UK or the EEA, you also have the right to object to processing, to request portability, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Our legal basis for processing is our legitimate interest in running and marketing a business, and your consent where consent is required.

Security

The site runs over HTTPS and the services we use are established vendors with their own security programs. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. We can't guarantee the security of anything you send us, and you send it at your own risk.

Children

This is a business-to-business site. It isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us information, email us so we can delete it.

International visitors

We operate in the United States and the services we use process data there. If you visit from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US.

Changes to this policy

We may change this policy at any time. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of the page. Changes take effect when posted, and continuing to use the site after that means you accept them.
